 | | The 49th annual Masters Waterski Tournament The 49th Masters ® Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament will be held May 23-25, 2008. The Masters is known throughout the world as the most prestigious watersports tournament. The event began in 1958 at Callaway Gardens and is held annually during the Memorial Day weekend. An invitation to compete in the Masters is universally considered an honor and an acknowledgement of achievement for reaching the pinnacle in a given watersports discipline - only the world’s most elite athletes compete at the Masters! This tournament is IWSF/USA Water Ski and USA Wakeboard sanctioned. Prize monies, trophies, rings and special event awards total well over $135,000. | | Big Dawg Slalom Unlike the Professionals, the 34 MPH skiers only have one important tournament a year, the Nationals, and at the Nationals they are fragmented, Men’s 3, Men’s 4, Open 34, and a few Men’s 5. Bottom line, there are many skiers that are within a few buoys of each other however they are divided into four divisions. Consequently, we really don’t know WHO IS THE BEST 34 MPH SKIER IN THE WORLD? | | MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Tour (PWST) is back, in an ongoing effort to carry professional waterskiing to a wider audience. In this spirit, the MasterCraft PWST will consist of six elite professional water ski events that will be activated all over the country, culminating in the pinnacle of water ski events, the MasterCraft US Open of Waterskiing. These tour stops, which are supported by both MasterCraft and its local dealers, will replace the traditional qualifying rounds of the US Open of Waterskiing. In its place will be the MasterCraft PWST with five slalom events, two open men jump events, one open women jump event, one open women’s and men’s trick event and one overall event. The overall event will determine the US Open overall champion while all other events in the series will be considered US Open qualification events. | | The Face To Face tour will be the first of its kind in water skiing. For three months, beginning May 2008, Marcus and his crew will travel coast to coast in a custom Peterbuilt towing a 40th Anniversary MasterCraft boat. The tour will offer top notch water ski clinics, training programs, free ski days with a Pro, charity benefit days, public outreach days, celebrity appearances, gear demos, autographed posters, magazines, DVDs, film premieres and more. The tour will hit up four pro events throughout the summer and will travel over 12,000 miles bringing extreme slalom to the masses, on the lakes, rivers and swamps of the United States. Make sure you poke around the site, click the “Tour” link for specific dates and locations, and don’t miss a chance to catch the Tour this summer! | |
